OUR JOURNEY
Founded by a team of pickleball enthusiasts, Island Athletic was born from a love for the game and a desire to see it flourish in the Caribbean. We recognized the need for quality equipment, expert guidance, and community support to grow the sport, and we set out to meet those needs.

AMAN cHATANI
Founder & Director
Aman Chatani is the Founder & Director of Island Athletic Co. Born and raised in Jamaica, he has always been passionate about sports, with a strong background in tennis. After competing for years, injuries forced him to step away from the game, but that challenge led him to discover pickleball in 2024—a sport he quickly became dedicated to growing. Aman studied at Brock University in Canada and has always believed in the power of sports to unite communities. Recognizing pickleball’s potential in the Caribbean, he launched Island Athletic Co. to expand access to high-quality equipment and promote the sport’s development across the region.
Suraj Buxani
Founder & Entrepreneur
Born in London and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, Suraj’s global journey has shaped his entrepreneurial vision. After attending Charterhouse School and the University of Westminster, he moved to the Caribbean in 2007 to support the expansion of a Digicel retail partner into El Salvador, Honduras, and Panama. Following years of leading the group of companies, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, building businesses in trading and distribution. In 2019, he founded We Alter Eco Ltd., supplying eco-friendly disposables, and in 2020, he established Anawin Inc., an international trading and holding company. Under Anawin Inc., he launched Shawarma Shack in 2023 and Island Athletic Co. in 2024. His ventures reflect a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and business growth across diverse industries.
Kobi Stiebel
Partner and Director
Kobi Stiebel is a finance professional and entrepreneur with a background in private equity. Born and raised in Bridgetown, Barbados, Kobi relocated to Kingston, Jamaica in 2012. Kobi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Howard University, with additional studies at the University of Cape Town. An entrepreneur from early, Kobi founded an event company in college that continues to operate throughout the US and Caribbean. With experience working in private equity in both the US and Jamaica, Kobi also brings an understanding of global markets and investment strategies to Island Athletic Co.
